Christmas Celebration in India
Christmas is one festival which is celebrated everywhere with the same zeal and enthusiasm as in the western world! India,with over 1.2 billion people is the most populous democracy, and it too celebrates Christmas! Not only the 2.3% or over 25 million Christians here but others too get into holiday mood and celebrate Christmas with greatest of enthusiasm. They call it 'Bada Din' or the 'Big Day'! You will find all- midnight mass, Santa Clause, Christmas trees, cakes, parties, carnivals - everything that is nothing else but CHRISTMAS! Although most of the ways and styles to celebrate Christmas in India are similar to what can be seen in other countries, the local effect sometimes too can be seen, like in lack of pine trees, you may come across banana tree or mango tree decorated as Christmas tree!
